In Austin Debut Dills Defeats 2 Dudes!

Austin, TX - The MGA has finally made it's way to central Texas with the debut event of the Austin MGA chapter on August 5th. The Brattish Open was contested by a whopping three Medios featuring MGA co-founder, "Straight" Willie Dills, former Northern Colorado chapter leader, Kent "Kentshaw" Williams, and new guy with the pink balls, Ty Thomas. After making the strategic move from the highly competitive original MGA chapter in San Francisco, Dills was able to take home the big check and his 3rd set of Claret Juggs solidifying his status as "Best Player to Never Win a Non-Major". Shooting a blistering 94 after adding 3 penalty strokes, Dills was able to come from behind with 4 Mirdies over the last 5 holes to win by only 2. As a brand new chapter leader he was quoted after the round as saying, "I think this is probably enough members. Pretty sure I can beat these other two jabronies every time".

Kent Williams started off consistent before the heat and the single sip of whiskey he took clearly got the better of him as he struggled down the stretch. His 96 was still good enough to take home 2nd place, Most Mediocre and also won the closest to the pin award. Still looking for his first win on tour he's finished 3rd and 2nd in his last two tourneys so he's on a bit of a hot streak and we can all expect highly Mediocre results from him going forward.

Ty Thomas made his MGA debut and the rookie shot a respectable 120 with his dad's old clubs. It had been so long since he'd played that his golf shoes didn't fit anymore so coming out in the heat and winning a long drive award was a kinda big accomplishment. He also clearly "gets it" so that should take him a long way in the MGA. He also was awarded the biggest meltdown and the highly coveted red key so he will have a nice advantage at the next tourney.

All in all the small size of the tourney did not take away from the good times and the Austin MGA now has something to build on. They are actively recruiting members so if anyone has non-douche players in the Austin area please contact the Austin chapter leader, Willie Dills.
