Chicago, IL- The MGA season in Chicago started off with the season with a BANG!!! Not only did we grow our group from 12 to 35 in the first full year, but we had a group of 31 medicos out for the first outing! We played at the Coyote Run which is located in the little village of Flossmoor, which was once home to  Muhammad Ali.   When I work up Saturday morning I knew it was going to be a great day. After the rainiest April in the Chicago history we finally had a dry day. Although it was dry we had winds in the high 30’s but that didn't stop anyone from coming out for an eventful Saturday.   While the wind seemed to bother some people, Brian Riley won the first big check of the year and the hat with a stellar 84 (not bad for a guy on four hours of sleep). Jeff Bitner shot an amazing 87 and Ryan "Barnyard" Burnson shot out of his shoes with a 88. On the other end of the spectrum was Potato Paul Boga with a course high 130(it may have been his first round of golf on US soil). While I shouldn't be giving Potato to hard of a time because I rang in the MGA season with a pathetic 116 of which i'm blaming the wind and riding with Burnson!   The pride of the southside Shane O'Donoghue shot a mediocre 96. That being said he was able to capture both longest drive (285 yards) and closest to the pin (5 feet) for a over $300.     Our Mediocre award and Meltdown award goes to the toughest man in the MGA, Daryl Luigs. Despite being hit by a line drive smack in the elbow finished the round out with a 92 (43/49) and was still smiling It looks like one of our guys ended the round like a real gentleman! I'm not naming any names. I knew that Chicago was the biggest city in the MGA, and eventually we'll be the biggest chapter as well. Just give us a couple years.

Thanks for the link to Muhammed Ali's profile. I had always thought he was a golfer from the Nationwide tour.
