IEMGA Desert Trip was (Bob) Dope

HIGHER TEMPERATURES THAN SCORES!!! AN MGA 1st!!!

Hey guys! For those of you who couldn't make it, we had a great time out in the desert last weekend even with temps pushing 120! The Olson's and Kelly's played Terra Lago Friday Morning and Jstar walked away with a solid 95 from the Blues (actually Gold tees) while playing the entire round with the same ball! This is quite a feat on any course but at Terra Lago, it's seemingly impossible. Ryan (Son)  beat Lawrence (Father) on the front but had a Meltdown on 17 to bring them into a tie headed to 18. Ryan took a early lead on the hole but it came down to putts and They walked away tied.

Friday afternoon While Half of Jstar's body was under attack from the worst cramps ever conceived , the Kelly's headed back out for ANOTHER 18! To Recap it was hot... real real hot. But they got through it... Props. I on the other hand gotta say heat is a real thing. Stay Hydrated and Plenty of Salty Snacks.

The Big Event was on Saturday at Indian Wells Golf Resort Players Course. OCMGA had their Bratish Open and there was a cross chapter event dubbed the Bob Dope between OC, SF, and IE.  SF really only had one guy (El Presidente) but he drew a name out of OCs top 6 scores for a 2nd team score. Top two scores from each team for the trophy.

The Course was awesome. Everyone I talked to loved it. They had Mango scented Ice Towels handed out on the course and there was barely a brown blade of grass that wasn't intentionally put there.

The Olson's and Kelly's were joined by Chris "Mediocre Tiger" Garcia and Tim "19" Minamyer to represent the IE. Out of our team of 6, the OC brought 19 (finished w 18 ... HOPEFULLY OCs article covers that), Wild Turkey naturally had his bi-tourney meltdown after an otherwise good 90's round and finished around 103 or 4 which was good enough for 2nd in our chapter. Chris and Tim finished not far behind. However for the 1st TIME EVER... Ryan (son) edged out Larry (dad) by one stroke! This drew a big applause from the crowd when it was announced. For those of you who grew up golfing w your dad, you know how big of a deal it is to get that 1st Win! Congrats Ryan!

As for Jstar, be proud he represented the IE, I know I am. Playing in the first group out with the President of the MGA, OC CL, and the MGA Global Money Leader (Congrats BTW), on a championship course, it really felt like you were playing in a "real" tournament with "pros".  Had he "competed" Jstar would've WON THE TOURNEY and the HIGHly coveted JUGGS! His 90 edged out Global Money Leader Michael DeSio by one stroke (net) although we tied Gross. El Presidente shot an 89 but his strokes put him in the mid 90s I think. OC also had a guy DQ w/ a 77.

Anyways if this weekend proved anything it's  Great Times and Good People can be found anywhere there is the MGA ! As always you can follow us and see some more pics and videos on Instagram @iemga. Happy Golfing Everyone!
