MGAWC 2011 - New & Improved Meet and Greet

LOCATION - As part of the deal worked out with his Montreal appearance fee fiasco, Fat Mike has agreed to let us use his Vegas Punk House for the meet and greet this year! The house is a perfect location to hold this pre-World Championship bash and just a damn fun place to hang out. It has a putting green, pinball machine, beer machine, poker table and more. Check out the video below to see what you're getting into and then check out all the M&G events below.
LO-IQ RESULTS - Last year we had 12 people in the Last Opportunity In Qualification tournament, where the top 10 get into the World Championship the next day. We kept the results secret and held a dramatic rose ceremony to reveal who had made it through. This year will be no different, though we may award cans of PBR instead of roses.

Jeff Samuels takes the final rose. Shawn Hoglan is clearly disappointed. Alex Fontana can't believe it either.
PLAYER AUCTION - A new addition last year, the player auction was a lot of fun and brings a whole new level of excitement to the MGAWC's. We will run through the field name by name, bidding will start at $1 for every player and increase in increments of $1. If you win a player, you are counting on them to finish first, second or third the next day. First place wins you 50% of the pot, second wins 30% and third takes the last 20%. Last year Willie Dills bought longshot John James for just $5 at the auction and took home $135 when JJ won the next day.

Kent Jamieson celebrating his second place finish and Fat Mike celebrating the fact that he purchased Kent in the player auction.
THE IMPOSSIBLE PUTT - Since the house has a putting green, it would be foolish of us to not involve golf in this meet and greet. We will set up a challenge called the impossible putt, which will feature a (nearly) impossible putt. It will cost $1 per try, so save a few from that stack they give you at the strip club and try to win some of the fabulous prizes.
LIVE MEDIOCAST - Last year the entire meet and greet was a mediocast. Sadly the sound quality wasn't good enough to ever release it to the public. It featured some great segments such as the player auction and MGA trivia. Hopefully this year we'll have the right mics so all the poor souls who can't make it to Vegas still get to listen in on the fun.

The belt is hanging proudly in its display case at the far end of the table.
FOOD AND DRINK - We will provide beer and some of the finest food Costco has to offer at the meet and greet.
TRANSPORTATION - Transportation to and from the meet and greet is included in whatever package you buy on August 1st when registration opens. We will rent some big buses that will pickup and drop off from the Palace Station where we'll all be staying.
Registration for the MGAWC will open August 1st. But if you know you’re going to go, book your flights ASAP because they’re not getting any cheaper.
MGAWC SCHEDULE:
Friday, November 11th - Practice rounds for pre-qualified players (Look in the rules section under the "about" tab to see who qualifies) and the L.O.I.Q. Tournament. The Last Opportunity In Qualification tournament is open to any MGA player who has played in three regular season events but still failed to qualify for the MGAWC. The top ten finishers in the L.O.I.Q. earn a spot in the MGAWC's the next day.
Saturday, November 12th - Mediocre Golf World Championships. Defending champion John James of the SFMGA will likely be relying on his "Past Champion" exemption status to make his way into the field this year. But that doesn't mean he's going to let go of that belt without a fight. Will you be the one to take it from him?!
How to qualify for the World Championship in November
5.1 Finish top 10 on your chapters money list
5.2 Win a regular season event
5.3 Past World Champions and Global Money Champions get five year exempt status
5.4 Finish in the top 10 in the LO-IQ (Last Opportunity In Qualification) (11/11/11) tournament in Vegas the day before the actual MGAWC’s (11/12/11).
