MGAWC and CINMGA, a match made in heaven

The MGAWC was an amazing week of beautiful weather, excellent partying, lots of new friendships and some very tough golf. The championship courses were stretched out to about 6700 yards with some really nasty pin placements and glass-like greens.  The best net score out of 220 Medio's was an 87 during the two days. The champion took home the two day event averaging almost 93 strokes per round.

Those tough conditions did not stop CINMGA from continuing to move forward at the world championships. However, tough courses don't scare real men like Rich Zinicola, who brought home a 16th place out of the 220 Medios!!!   He put together a beautiful 95 followed by a 99 with some amazing driving of the ball which is critical on these courses.  (It is rumored that he is buying his coach a new car as a small token of thanks!!)

While Rich’s great finish was big news probably just as exciting was the team taking our best ever fifth place in the Chapters cup out of 30 teams!    Tim Grimes and Dennis laid down some nice rounds to finish in second and third place for the team using 197 and 199 strokes respectively to get around the courses.  The Billdozer reintroduced melt down holes to his game including a nine on a par three to settle in at a 202 for the tournament.   Dave Ratajczak brought home our team Gross award with rounds of 92 and 91 but his well-deserved penalty strokes took him back to a 203 net.  Dan ‘Jekyll or Hyde’ Harold continued his trend of really good or really awful and performed a gorgeous reverse meltdown going from 115 to 97 to finish with 212.

The team wrapped up the week with a round on a significantly easier golf course on Sunday. Dave proved that he's got serious game by shooting his best score ever at 73 using 5 birdies to take all our money. It was a great way to finish the week as everyone else  got in a round of about 10 better than what they had played in the tournament.

For all you Medios who do not make it this year, you have to put a MGAWC on your bucket list.  It is a fantastic time and next year will be the 10th annual world championship, a perfect time to give it a try. The dates for next year or November 9 and 10th so put it on the calendar and start saving your pennies now!!!

I think you forget to write about a certain 4-day tourney??????????? I believe your son has a video we should post asap!

Just a fantastic week with great people and mediocre golf for all. Can't wait until next year and so proud of the 5th for the team.

I highly recommend attending the MGA World Championship. This was my first time, and I'm definitely going again this year. I predict a Cincinnati team championship in 2018. You heard it here first...just sayin'.... Oh hell, who cares...good bourbon with Dennis after a shitty round makes it worthwhile.
