The scene was set and the gods smiled upon the 8 medios that descended on Royal Belmont for the 2012 Bratish open.

On a course that is so open and true to links form it was amazing at how much trouble we found on the day.

The Newcastle medios are now accepting a call up from the Australian cricket selectors with not one of us breaking the ton. Scooter did take out the long drive; however scooter could not hold onto his dominance and limped away with the most mediocre. Sadly this was attributed to the 7th hole which was the scene of last years Bratish where Peter Gardner placed 5 balls ob off the tee. Scooter did his best to break the record but could only manage 3 ob.

Kinda close went to last years Bratish winner Benson with his local knowledge picked out the 5th for the kinda close knowing that the rest of the group would struggle with the hole. A huge shout out to Scooter that made mirdie from no where's land and to Uncle Mal who walked away with a mar after finding a deep bunker off the tee. Seasoned veterans would be happy with a 4.

From tees to trees, to bush and bunker we all struggled to find form.

In the end the final group teed up on the 18th with little knowledge of what was required to win. Kristo produced a beautiful mirdie while Benson 4 putted under pressure and believed he had lost the Bratish by his lip out 3. It was not until we arrived at the clubhouse to tally the scores that we realised that for the first time in a Newcastle major that 2 of the finest (ha-ha) were tied at 103 a piece. What to do? Take a jug each? No... The breast was yet to come.

Benson and Kristo jumped back in a cart and headed back down the Mar 5 18th to what is now known as the battle of the boobs, the ”tits for the title”, or the Mammary Major.

The pressure was intense and you could cut the tension with a knife. Benson being the defending champion teed off after he found composure and had no idea of where he drove his ball. Kristo being the sort of lad he is calmly said “didn't see it, but it should be down the middle”. Kristo then stepped to the tee and produced the exact same drive as his final approach, long, right and in a boobtiful position to approach the green.

Benson then summoned the power to smash a hybrid from 185m out onto the front of the green that rolled past the pin and settled on the back....game on Kristo. Putting for Meagle from 60 feet and what would have ended Kristo's dream early lipped out and ran 5 feet past. Kristo then putted out to post a solid Mar. How does it end? Does Kristo become the 2012 Bratish open champ or are the jugs tweaked from his grasp at the final hole.
