Congratulations to Newcastle Medio Kristian Brockbank.

By the light...of the silvery moon 8 medios descended upon Charlestown Golf Course for the coveted MGA title. In the end none could compete with Kristian Brockbank who broke the drought to obtain his first major of the year with a 2 over mar 92, winner of the gross award and take home the big cheque $0.68.

The tee time was the undoing of most of the medios with the sun on the horizon and the moon still high in the sky (as with 75% of the Newy medios) the morning begun with Tas Ellem first off the tee. With his pre warm up swing mimicking Ernie Els, "the big Teasy" squared up and got the fourth major of the year underway. His drive was straight, however it dribbled off the tee box 10 yards in front of him. Nice start to your well-deserved meltdown award Tasman.

The first group got underway and approached the second hole par 3 kinda close. This hole carries a water hazard to a slight elevated green and it required all or nothing to get it on the dance floor. A special mention goes out to "The big marn" Mastro who limped away with a 17 which attributed to his final score of 131. Cricket season looking good mate. I take my hat off to you Mastro for the effort. Kinda close was chapter money leader Scott "Scooter" Bloomer who miraculously launched one at the back of the green to hit the down slope and roll inside Brandon "Handling Ball" Hall.

Brandon was the one to watch through the first 7 holes giving season veterans Benson and Kristo a run for their money. Megulation Mar's seemed effortless until the 8th when Brandon's game started to unfold. Win or lose as long as your having fun right?

To the rest of the medios in group 2; well done on keeping hush on the design change 10th hole. Captain Mal had obviously not played "Charlie" for a while and hit his second approach into the par 4 and hit the green...pity it was the old obsolete one.

Onto the 11th hole par 4 for the kinda long and with Kristo duffing his drive into the ground and rolling down the guts of the fairway 130M from the tee box he was the only one from the first group to hit the fairway. The 11th fairway anyway. Captain Mal would not let his young Nephew have all the glory and it should be noted that Mal took out his straightest club and hit one over the top of the current kinda long marker and claim the Kinda long sticker. Well-done Mal.

With a new bub it was a great effort from Brenton Brockbank to even show up for the event. Posting a solid 105, well done Brenton keep it up and you will make a podium finish before the year is out.

Benson could not hold onto composure and with three holes to play lost the plot and went 4 over, 6 over and 2 over to let the one major that has alluded his trophy cabinet be presented to the man whose game has been rock solid for most of the 2012 season. Kristo's had his foot on the jugular and applied the pressure to ensure the MGA would be his. It wasn’t until the 18th tee that he drove his tee shot sideways that there was a sense this major could be up for grabs by Scooter in the second group. Recovery shots and a solid approach to the final green saw Kristo shine and walk off the green a major champion.

Cheers guys for making the effort on the ludicrous time slot. Mal - please ensure that we are not teeing off at that hour again.

See you douche bags at 'Bero'
