Sorry for the long delay but even the journalism is mediocre!

In what was so far the closest tournament of the season, Steve D takes the F.U. Open by one stroke with a 102 at Balboa Golf Course in beautiful Encino, California.  This tournament might have come down to 2 shots on the day.  Scott's opening lost ball (and subsequent penalty strokes) and Steve's 20 (30? 40?) foot meagle putt!  Even with his extraordinary -11 difference on the back 9, Scott was unable to overcome the early deficit, gaining only two shots from Steve's lead.  As a consolation prize, he did earn his Most Mediocre award for the day.

In his most impressive tournament of the year, Steve Nelson tied for the lead at the turn and took third with a strong 109 which tied Bryan's score.  Because of the tie, and our haste to get the clubs back to the car using the golf carts, we decided to have a bowl-off!  That's right....ball...carpet...glass.  Best of 3.  Of course, both Steve and Bryan missed on the first ball.  But then...CLINK!  Steve hits the edge...now down to Bryan (surprisingly known as the Earl Anthony of the SFV MGA) who matched him with a hit of his own.  It now came down to sudden death and on Nelson's first shot....IT'S IN THE HOLE!  Congrats Steve on your incredible round.  Bryan though did get another Longest Drive award just to keep reminding us how long he is.

Closest to the pin just seems to elude this bunch.  Next tournament, 2 winners!

Future members Inaki Lazcano and PC Yi joined the fray as guests so everyone had to be on their most mediocre behavior.  Looking forward to playing with you guys when it counts next week at the Bratish!
