The anticipation for the F.U. open was at an all time high this past weekend.  Thanks to the abscense of 2 time Champ Gary Smith, the field was wide open.  However, newcomer Mike Posner would dash any hopes of us long time L.A. veterans of winning this prestigous event.  Mike had a 2 hour jump on the rest of the gang, so his score put the pressure on the rest of us on the back 9 and we collapsed under the pressure.  So Congrats to you Mike!

Also absent was our usually reliable #2. this meant that last place was also open, But Hector Villagran came out of the gates early & left no doubt as to who would assume the last place spot.  Kudos to you Hector, only you can pull off last place with such dignity.  Another newcomer, Jarrod Hanson also came on the scene with high hopes & big dreams.  They however fizzled quickly, I blame it on the PBR, he can't handle PBR, PBR makes him an uncontrolable beast.  On hole #10 Jarrod teed off with  a few PBR's in him, He swung so hard that his ball went about 230 & the head of his driver went about 100 yards nearly taking out the squirrel who was stalking him throughout the day (the squirrel also ate through his zipper on his golf bag to try to get a 5 year old snicker bar).

Highly talented & respected chapter leader Paul Villagran also had an up & down day.  His only highlight was a 155 par 3 shot that landed 2 feet from the hole, he then proceeded to 2 put on a fluke miss.  Our longest drive winner Art Bernal was in contention all afternoon because all the dog leg right holes played perfectly in to his swing.  He however, fell apart on the left curving holes to finish 4 strokes behind the Champ.  All in all it was a good event even though we lost Andy Farenholz shortly before we started, thats a story for another time.  Can't wait til the next event!
