The Billdozer channels Uncle Sam inspiration for a victory in the FU open.

Apparently dressing for success is key at CINMGA as Tim Grimes brought home a victory in March dressed as a leprechaun and the  Billdozer sweated out 18 holes in Uncle Sam polyester and felt hat to capture the FU open.  The victory was not without some work as his 84 was matched by Kyle Gambrel so a playoff was needed to decide the results.  Kyle finished his round with a quad to back into the playoff and his putter continued to abuse him throughout the playoff.   Dave Ratajczak took charge of the situation setting up some nasty chips around the practice green as the Billdozer avoided disaster with a couple of clutch putts and finally prevailed on the fourth round.

Right behind Kyle was Doc whose season continues to show great promise.  He took home the Gross Award by shooting an 80 on the nose which was good enough for third place and some more penalty strokes!    Jared Leiker and Skip Koesterman, in just his second tournament, rolled in in fourth place shooting nice 87's. Jared's improvement from last year is stunning and Skip is setting himself up for a run up the money list early in his MGA career.

The brothers Stout, Andy and Tyler,  tied each other with 89's and managed to bicker through the entire award ceremony as they do most times when we have them within 5 yards of each other!  Bryan O'Daniel continued a solid first MGA season with an eighth place finish keeping him in the top ten on the chapter money list. We had a significant log jam tied for ninth with Dan Harold, Dave Ratajczak, Mike Yannucci, Nate Williams and Nick Novy all coming in with 93s.  We welcome back Nate whose sharp negotiating skills manage to allow him to squeeze in a couple tournaments this year even with new wife and baby. He also showed that he has lots of game as he took home the Closest to the Pin award.  Dave's lack of a DQ paid off with enough money to keep him a top the chapter money list.  Also in the group was Mike Yannucci who did not deserve to be in this crowd but managed to join with a Meltdown of 13 strokes which also allowed him to take home the Meltdown Award.  Zach Wasson was just one stroke behind this crowd to take 14th place by himself.   Rounding out the money list with the tie for 15th were Matt Fischer, Rich Zinicola and Tim Grimes, all former winners on tour now relegated to just barely outside the warm handshake club.  While it was a tie for 15th place,  we awarded Mr. Zinicola the most mediocre award for his kinda alright 48/48 round which was clearly not good, not bad, just mediocre.

The warm handshake club had a huge crowd as almost half the field joined it. Brian McCormick stood out within that field, improving by 20 strokes from the last tournament to move away from the red key. Also Dave Gibson, while not making any money, did take home some hardware with the Long Drive Award. The Red Key went to Mario Cartaya with a nice symmetrical 62/62 for 124.  He did have  couple of ‘Mars’ to show his real potential scattered in among the 13 and 9's.

Next tournament up, the third major of the year, the Bratish.   This will be contented at Walden Ponds with another shotgun starting early in the morning to avoid the summer heat.
