Brennan Claims Second Win, Money Race Tightens

CROWNSVILLE, MD---Tim Brennan earned his second Kent Island Chapter win of the season and fifth of his Mediocre Golf Association career, taking a one-shot victory at the Douchebag Invitational, played along side the Baltimore Chapter at the Preserve at Eisenhower.

After a shaky start, finding himself six-over par through four holes, Brennan played the next nine holes in one-under par, including birdies on the short par-3 sixth and the par-4 ninth holes. He finished with an 81, good for the gross award, and a net 89.

A birdie at the par-3 17th hole, helped Brennan hold off a late-charging Stephen Pokora, who played the final five holes in three-over par, including claiming the long drive award on the par-5 14th hole, which he would go on to par. Pokora came home with a net 90, to take second place, his fourth event finishing second or better this season.

It marked the second year that the Kent Island and Baltimore chapters have played the Douchebag together. Net 89 was also the winning score from the Baltimore chapter, as George Cunningham earned a two-shot victory.

Brandon Hare picked the mediocre award for the Kent Island chapter with his 97 on the day, while also being closest to the pin on the 177-yard eighth hole, hitting his tee shot to 15 feet.

Chapter leader Tim Shannon took the meltdown award with a five-shot stumble from his front to back nine and Steve Bresnahan earned the key to the red tee for the final event of the season.

The chapter closes out the 2023 regular season with the Last Gasp, Saturday, October 21 at the Lakes Course at Queenstown Harbor.

With Brennan’s win at the Douchebag, he moved up to second on the money list with $3.85 on the season, $0.35 behind Pokora ($4.20). Josh Schreiner, who placed fifth at the Douchebag sits third on the money list with $3.71 rounding out the top three, who are still in contention for the season-long race.

The most recent event is not the last one in which Baltimore and Kent Island will convene, as the chapters will square off in the inaugural Battle of the Bay November 11-12 at Queenstown Harbor. The final eligible spots from the eight-man roster from the Kent Island chapter will be decided at the Last Gasp. Pokora, Brennan, Schreiner, Hare and Stephen Kozlik have already secured spots on the team.
