Max Qualifies For MGAWC19 With Win!

I just want to say that the voodoo you all put on me at the first tee is impressive, keep it up.  I love having to climb out of a hole right from the start and really wanted this win, Max however had other plans...

We showed up to a gusty Fall breeze at Deer Valley. It’s a really beautifully set course, shockingly hilly for Wisconsin. I came into the day knowing I had a lot of ground to make up on the money list after only having a single tournament where I played and made any money this year. Fueled by that knowledge and also a recent tip from @JamesHickman on ball compression, I got off to a slow start. But it seemed like everyone else did too, so bogey golf on the front kept me in it. I started getting into a groove on #7 when I went up and down for my first par which led to a string of pars. We had a ton of fun on the two driveable par fours. First one our whole group surrounded the green, while the second one none of us did and I launched my drive into the corn field to the right. I had a moment of slight panic when I turned a three foot birdie putt on #14 into a three-putt for bogey, but I got past that and had myself in position to win with a double bogey or better on 18. James and I both ended up in the greenside bunker lying two. I was a little nervous about the sand being a little packed down and decided to try to pop the ball up without much sand. Miraculously rolled it for a birdie to tumultuous applause, shocking everyone, including me. Shoutouts to Austin, Mike, and James for having very solid rounds, and especially to Ken who probably deserves the opposite of the biggest meltdown award for the most improved player of the year with literally a 40 stroke improvement or something crazy.
