A New Hero Emerges...

IT WAS STARTING TO LOOK LIKE THIS DAY WOULD NEVER COME. BUT IN A LATE APRIL STUNNER AT HALF MOON BAY, THE ROBOCALYPSE FINALLY CAME TO AN END AND FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE OCTOBER OF 2017, A PERSON NOT NAMED ROB WON AN SFMGA EVENT. THIS IS WHAT A HERO LOOKS LIKE.

HALF MOON BAY, CA - It was a day of firsts. The first nice course the SFMGA has ever played at. The first non-Rob victory in 17 months. The first major of the year. And finally, and most importantly, the first win for Kevin Williams!!

The MGA veteran had the round of his life yesterday, playing solid and consistent mediocre golf to shoot an impressive (especially by his standards) 88 to take home the Coveted Blue Trucker Cap.

Williams credited playing "old man golf" as his key to victory and played a majestic triple-bogey-free round to cruise to a 4 shot victory over the equally impressive (read:surprising) Justin Davidson.

This is Davidson's fourth 2nd place finish of his career, but his first since 2016. Could 2019 finally be the year that he grabs his first big check?

Finishing one stroke behind Davidson were Martin Brohm and Jon "Lucky Kick" Morley. The last time those two tied in a Bastards was in 2013, when they tied for the lead and Morley absolutely fucking destroyed Brohm in a playoff to claim his second Coveted Blue Trucker Cap.

Jacy Jackson decided to grace the MGA with his presence once again and followed pairings-mate Todd Benoit Benoit all the way to a top 5.

Probably the second most impressive feat of the day after Williams's win, was Matt Fucking Wilson taking his second top 10 in his last three starts. Wilson shot an impressive 96 on the day to finish 7th... from THE WHITES!! This from a man who averaged 111 in 8 starts last season, with many of those rounds being played from the red tees. Here he is bombing it off the first tee.

Visiting from Albuquerque and playing as a competitor, like a total dick, was Chapter Leader Sean "Rob" McAfee. Thankfully Morley was able to destroy the little remaining cartilage in his right knee with mind bullets, resulting in a whole bunch of shots like this.

Another notable performance was newbie Matty Girard "De Par Dude" making the money in his first event, after shooting a 99 to tie with McAfee. Girard had a knack for finding every stream on the course and hitting his ball to within 5 feet of it. He also had a knack for hitting amazing recovery shots.

After starting his career with a top 5 finish at last year's Bratish, Rob Tedrick was tabbed as a star of the future, sure to be the next Rob to record his first win. Somewhere along the way, golf had a different plan. Tedrick has struggled to match his early form and Half Moon Bay was more than happy to push him over the edge so he could hit rock bottom. Tedrick shot a career worst 119, finishing in 28th and taking home his first Key To The Red Tee.

Dave Armstrong took home the Most Mediocre Award by being a former Bastards Champ and finishing right in the middle of the field.

Another former Champ, Sean Supple, grabbed the Meltdown Award after going 48-57.

Todd Benoit Benoit won longest drive and Kevin Williams took home closest to the pin.

Jacy Jackson won the gross award with a not-that-impressive 87. What was more impressive is how he did it, shooting a 40 on the front and melting down with a 47 on the back.

Next up for the SFMGA is The MGA Championship in its new May slot on the schedule. We have chosen Tilden Park Golf Course in Berekeleye as the track to bring Medios course expectations crashing back to earth. It's booked for May 18th. REGISTER HERE
